This hat is semi-soft and will flex slightly when you wear it - if you measure slightly above standard size you can size down safely. For example:

Great hat but short life

I have owned this for just over two years, I love the look and lightness of the straw, but unfortunately the pinch of the crown and a section at the back of the crown is rapidly disintegrating. I haven’t worn it that often so hoped it might have lasted another year. Maybe a pinch reinforcement like many Panama hats might help.
