Québec during the winter months is truly a winter wonderland. The air is crisp and invigorating, and the snowy tree tops create a picture-perfect scene straight out of a postcard. The mountains are covered in blankets of untouched snow, making it the perfect destination for a cozy cabin getaway!
Cabin exploring is one of our favorite things to do during the winter months. In January we had the incredible opportunity of staying at The Hygge and Lagöm cabins nestled deep in the beautiful mountain of Maelström just 30 minutes away from Québec City.

The Hygge — Maelström, Canada
The Hygge, which takes its name from the Danish concept of "hygge" which means cozy and comfortable, is designed to make you feel right at home with its warm and inviting atmosphere. The 360-degree windows offer breathtaking views of the surrounding area. We enjoyed the cedar hot tub after a day on the trails, Jona played his guitar by the fire and I took a bath in one of the most beautiful bathtubs I've ever been in! The Hygge is definitely some serious cabin goals!

The Lagöm — Maelström, Canada
The Lagöm is located at an altitude of 550 meters with 20-foot ceilings and large windows that allow natural light to flood the cabin. We enjoyed the stunning views of the surrounding landscape and watched the sunrise from the comfort of our bed on the second floor! We made waffles for breakfast, bird watched from the deck and cozied up by the outdoor fire at night! Truly a unique above-the-clouds experience with this cabin.

Both cabins offered a true sense of escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and provided us the opportunity to reconnect with nature and the present moment. Some of the outdoor activities that can be done while staying at The Hygge or Lagöm are cross country skiing, snowshoeing, fat biking, back-country skiing, snowmobiling and hiking!
